- Honest and True -
CAR FREE FUN DAY
FRIDAY 19TH JUNE
DAVIDSONS MAINS PRIMARY SCHOOL

As part of Bike Week 2009, Davidsons Mains Primary School is launching our 'Car Free Fun Day' on Friday 19th June. www.bikeweek.org.uk
We will be asking children and parents for one day look at alternative methods of coming to school, either by walking or cycling, by scooter or taking public transport and leaving the car at home.  There are lots of stickers and cycling goodies at school for children on the day to help children use a healthier and more fun way to start the day.
There are routes to school using the local National Cycle Network Route 1 (the old railway line) - see North West Edinburgh Map.

SUGGESTED ROUTES:

·     Coming from Drylaw, you can walk or cycle up onto the railway bridge, down House o Hill Road, then turn right onto Corbiehill Road to school via the school crossing patrol.
·     You can also carry on down the cycle path, up along to the next railway bridge at the top of Silverknowes Road and down to Main Street via the school crossing patrol , across Vivian Terrace and to school via the school crossing patrol at Corbiehill Road.
·     From Barnton/Drumbrae areas - through Davidson's Mains Park via school crossing, down Quality Street Lane (or back of Quality Street by the Scout Hut), up Corbiehill Place & Corbiehill Crescent to school.
We are also incorporating a 'Park and Stride' scheme into 'Car Free Fun Day'.  These are suggested areas you can use to park safely and walk approx 5 minutes to school.  These are shown on the North Edinburgh map with a red star - the top of Silverknowes Road is the most accessible and safest as this is very close to the school crossing patrol and there are a lot of children also walking to school at the same time.

HAVE FUN - BE SAFE
